Student at KU Studying to Be a Teacher ~ Lenexa, Kansas

Nanny Seeking ~ For the last four years, I have worked with five different families in my area as an after-school and summer nanny. Typically, the families that I have helped have had kids in elementary school and up. With these families, I helped with homework, chores around the house, carpooling to the kids practices, playing at the pool during the summer, and just having fun with them! I discovered my passion for children a few years ago when I worked as a cabin leader at a church camp. The chaos of having 20 kids running around the cabin was something that brought excitement into my life, and I found that I thrived off of it. The energy and dedication it takes to look after kids has completely changed my life and has better prepared me for some day when I have children! When I turned 18, I took a nannying job with a 6-year-old girl with Down syndrome. We worked on different things, such as: money skills, communication skills, and learning daily procedures. Engaging in her life and helping her to grow was one of the most difficult (yet rewarding) experiences of my life! I enjoyed working with her and watching her grow throughout the year that I was with her. I just recently returned from Uganda, Africa, where I spent eight weeks working as a caretaker in two orphanages. I split my time in Africa between one orphanage with 50 orphans under the age of 3 and another orphanage with 35 children from ages 4 to 15. Working and living with children in Africa was a phenomenal experience that only furthered my love and passion for children! For the last year of school at the University of Kansas, I have worked for the Boys and Girls Club of Lawrence. Boys and Girls Club has been one of the most fun jobs that I have ever had. Once again, I have learned how to handle the chaos of having 300 kids every day after school. I am the middle child of three, and enjoy spending time with my siblings; watching them grown into young adults! My desire to work with children continues as I am in my second year of college studying to be a teacher.
