I have several years of experience, and have worked with children of all ages. I am looking for a live-in position. About me, I love people and am very friendly. I have a positive attitude and love to share it. I like to be outside and love to get dirty. I believe the key to great childcare is to develop a relationship of trust with the child, all the while remembering that you are in charge and there are rules to be followed but that fun is allowed and encouraged as well. I like to have fun with children. I have been known to turn an entire living room into a spaceship because the power went out. I have been a part of several bands with made up instruments and would love to have this kind of fun with your child. Related Experience, I worked for three years as a Residential Director for a large non-profit childcare facility for abused and neglected children. I started out as a childcare worker and was in charge of a group of four to five children from after school to bedtime. I prepared meals, helped with homework and took the children to recs. After dinner we came in for showers and bed time. Throughout the day, as they occurred, I dealt with fights, crisises, and general behavioral issues. I was promoted to the Residential Director position within the group home for mentally retarded children. The group of children in this house was usually from twelve to thirteen. The basic daily structure was the same as above, however, the children had IQ's of 60 and below. After working with these children for about a year, I was promoted to a larger group home for smaller boys. There were usually about sixteen or seventeen at a time. I was in charge of their daily routine as well. I supervised the children, the staff within the house, and spent a majority of my time helping children through crisises and training other staff to help as well. I want to become a nanny for several reasons. First of all, I love children, and I believe in them.
